The World Languages and Literatures Department recognizes that knowledge of a second language, like French, is essential to the global citizen of the 21st century. Language skills enhance the resumes of students in government, business, law, science, technology, education, health and social services.
Teacher certification is available in French, in conjunction with the College of Education. Studying the French language, literature and culture can also help students acquire jobs in tourism, international business and foreign diplomatic services.
We have a computer lab where students use language software and print materials to do homework, study, or learn new things. The lab is staffed by a language professor or student who can assist you with projects and questions.

- French with Teaching Certification
There are no admission requirements to enroll in French courses. Students are expected to take our free, online placement test before enrolling. This test allows them to place into higher level languages classes, thus making it easier and faster for them to pursue advanced studies for personal interests and to graduate. They are also eligible to receive free credit for lower level classes if they meet grade requirements.
