Carved Chorten

The chorten is symbolic of divine wisdom and was an essential feature of spires. The Tibetan chorten contain relics and commemorate important individuals. Derived from the Indian Buddhist stupa, there are many larger stone and wooden chorten in Tibet. These symbolic architectural structures are thought to represent the path to enlightenment or to symbolize the fully enlightened mind. Architectural stupas still are constructed all over the world. Made of ebony.
