Community Connections

We provide non-credit classes and workshops for individuals of all ages wishing to learn for fun, professional growth and/or personal enrichment. Community Connections also coordinates the presentation of performing arts and humanities programs in schools and community venues in the northern Kentucky region and transports a taste of NKU to elementary school partners in its signature Spirit Day events.

Elderhostel

Elderhostel is a nonprofit educational organization providing educational adventures all over the world to adults aged 55 and older. NKU Elderhostel participants study college-level liberal arts and science courses taught by faculty and local experts in topics ranging from greater Cincinnati art and culture to the history and heritage of Kentucky music.

Institute for Freedom Studies

IFS conducts heritage preservation and local history studies, does research on the Underground Railroad, sponsors student creative and artistic initiatives, develops P-16 related curricula and sponsors local and regional historic site tours having a multi-part purpose to include fostering rural economic development.

Music Performances

Northern Kentucky University offers a variety of exciting and creative musical performances from NKU students, area musicians and professional musicians.

Theatre Performances

During the Fall and Spring semesters, the NKU department of theater mounts six to eight productions in the NKU Corbett Theatre and the Black Box Theatre. Shows presented range from classics of dramatic literature to contemporary comedy, drama, and musicals.

Music Preparatory Department

The Northern Kentucky University Music Preparatory Department is an outreach program serving the community by providing quality musical instruction to students of all ages, not for credit. The instruction is for those interested in college preparation, for children experiencing an introduction into the world of music, and for adults who would like to develop or explore their talents for their own enjoyment.

NKU Art Galleries

NKU's two art galleries exhibit art by regional, national and international artists, as well as work created by graduating NKU art students. The galleries engage in outreach programs and experimental projects and provide a forum for traditionally underrepresented individuals to display their work for the community.
