The Social Studies Secondary Education Certification program prepares students to acquire teacher certification for grades 8-12. To complete the degree, students must satisfy social studies, education and general education course requirements.
Students who declare this major must schedule an appointment with the coordinator of certification in the College of Education and Human Services. Each semester, majors will meet with both a history department advisor and an education department advisor until they fulfill all of the degree requirements.
While completing their history content courses in our department, students receive specialized guidance from our instructors as they prepare for their careers as social studies teachers.
