Northern Kentucky University is home to one of the nation's top NCAA Division II athletic programs. A perennial force in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, NKU athletes have seen tremendous success on and off the playing field. Northern fields 13 varsity sports programs - baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's tennis and women's volleyball. NKU annually challenges for the GLVC All-Sports Trophy and Commissioner's Cup, given to the top overall athletic programs in the conference each year.

Last year, NKU finished in the top 10 in the prestigious United States Sports Academy Director's Cup rankings of the best overall collegiate athletics programs after capturing five regular-season titles and three GLVC tournament championships.

And NKU athletes are successful in the classroom as well. Last year, 61 NKU athletes earned academic All-GLVC honors and the average GPA for the department was 2.91.
