GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men’s golf team placed 11th out of 20 teams with a 13-over par, two day total in The Jewell at the Cherry Blossom Golf Course.

NKU was lead by Danny Lewis’ 1-under par (74-69-143) in an event named after former Norse team member Andrew Jewell, who passed away during the season in 2008.

The Norse finished just three strokes behind fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference members Southern Indiana and Drury, who tied for ninth place with a 10-over par total.

Ferris State University won the 36-hole event with an astonishing 11-under par (285-280-565) after trailing by two strokes at the conclusion of Day 1 action.

Grand Valley State University and the University of Indianapolis tied for second with a 9-under total.  Indianapolis led the event after the first day of play.

Eric Fuldner finished in a tie for 34th-place with a 3-over par 147 while teammates Clint Kohls and Cody Moore each finished with 7-over 151 total for NKU.

Jeremy Martin shot a 10-over par to take a share of 75th-place to round out the roster.

Ferris State’s Kurt Valley, who trailed Day 1 leader Steve Cuzzort by two strokes, shot a round of 65 on his way to a four stroke victory.  Cuzzort, who was playing for Wayne State University, tied for second with Indianapolis’ Justin Hueber with a 7-under par performance.

NKU will be back in action on Thursday, April 9, as they will be taking part in the GLVC Championships at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind.
