BELLEVILLE,
Ill. – The Northern Kentucky University women’s
golf team showed that it is poised to make a second-straight run
at the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship last weekend,
taking second place at the Midwest Shootout at the par-71 Orchards
Golf Course.
The Norse carded
80-over-par (326-322—648) to
finish 23 strokes behind team winner Indianapolis (312-313—625).
The event featured eight GLVC squads competing in the 36-hole tournament,
with NKU finishing 35 strokes ahead of their next competition,
Lewis (333-350—683).
Individually,
Kristi Piepenbrink of Indianapolis, the three-time All-GLVC performer
and 2008 GLVC Player of the Year,
took the medal
at three-over-par (72-73—145). Sofie Rasmussen led the Norse,
finishing fourth at 17-over-par (80-79—159). Lyndsey Bevil
(83-77—160) was a stroke behind Rasmussen, sharing fifth.
Charity Evans (78-85—163) in seventh and Alicia Stauffacher
(85-81—166) in 10th place rounded out NKU’s team score.
Hannah Lindauer (85-87—172) finished 15th in the 43-woman
field.
NKU will close out its fall season on Oct. 6-7 at the UMSL
Invitational at Gateway National Links in Madison, Ill. |
