SAUGET, Ill. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament became the stage for a powerful offensive performance by Kevin Dusold on Thursday night.

Dusold hit a pair of home runs, including a solo shot in the seventh inning that snapped a 5-all deadlock, as NKU opened the GLVC Tournament with a 6-5 victory against Quincy. Dusold also drove in all six runs as the Norse improved to 37-20 and will meet Rockhurst at 4 p.m. (Eastern time) Friday.

NKU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Dusold blasted his 12th homer of the season with two men on base. Quincy, however, battled back with two runs in the second and eventually took a 5-3 lead with a three-run outburst in the top of the third.

Dusold struck again in the bottom of the third, this time with a double to right-center field that drove in Evan McDole to make it 5-4.

After a 35-minute rain delay in the fifth inning, NKU loaded the bases for Dusold. The senior outfielder walked to tie the score at 5-all. The Norse, however, were unable to plate any further runs.

Dusold gave NKU the lead by blasting a one-out homer over the wall in right-center field in the bottom of the seventh. That was all NKU reliever Jay Hale needed.

Hale pitched four perfect innings to collect the victory. The junior left-hander struck out three Quincy batters and ended the game by fielding a grounder back to the mound and throwing on to first to preserve the win.

Dusold, who now has 13 homers this spring, went 3-for-3 with six runs batted in. McDole was 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs.
