RENSSELAER, Ind. - Brandon Mayse scored 16 points to lead Saint Joseph’s College to a 79-73 upset against No. 5 Northern Kentucky University on Saturday in the Scharf Alumni Fieldhouse.

Mayse also finished with eight rebounds and five assists as Saint Joseph’s (14-11, 7-9 Great Lakes Valley Conference) snapped NKU’s 11-game winning streak. The Pumas built a 63-54 lead with 6:45 remaining on a dunk by Marcus Jackson and held on for the upset.

Saint Joseph’s held NKU to 38.2 percent shooting from the field, including 7-for-26 from 3-point range. Andrew Helmer added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Pumas, who avenged a 79-61 loss at NKU on Feb. 5.

Leslie Malone scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for NKU, which dropped to 20-5 overall, 13-3 in the GLVC. Scott Bibbins added 13 points for the Norse, and Dustin Maguire scored 10.

NKU will play host to Bellarmine in Regents Hall on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. The Norse can clinch the GLVC East Division title outright by defeating Bellarmine.

NKU finishes out the regular season Saturday by playing host to Lewis in Regents Hall at 3:15 p.m. The Norse need two wins to clinch the GLVC's overall No. 1 seed and right to host the GLVC Tournament March 6-8.
