KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jessie Slack and Brandi Rayburn combined for 33 points Thursday night as Northern Kentucky University remained unbeaten with a 71-47 victory at Rockhurst.

Slack scored 17 points for NKU, which improved to 14-0 overall, 6-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Rayburn added 16 points and eight rebounds as NKU rallied from an 11-point deficit (24-13) early in the first half to claim the road win.

The Norse, ranked No. 1 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, opened the second half with a 13-4 run to turn a 28-24 deficit into a 37-32 lead. NKU later used an 18-6 spurt to build a 57-43 advantage on a jumper by Slack with 9:07 remaining in the game.

Slack, who had her streak of consecutive made free throws halted at 24, scored 12 points in the second half to key NKU’s rally. The Norse outscored Rockhurst (8-9, 2-5 GLVC) 47-19 in the second half to improve to 4-0 all-time against the Hawks.

Karen Brackman added seven points for NKU, which has won 20 consecutive games dating back to last season. The Norse have not lost since a 71-67 setback at Drury on March 9, 2008.

NKU will face that same Drury team Saturday in Springfield, Mo.
