ATLANTA - Northern Kentucky University’s Jessie Slack has been selected to the State Farm NCAA Division II All-America first team, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced Monday night.

Slack, a senior guard and a native of Mt. Perry, Ohio, led NKU to a 29-3 record this season by averaging 17.3 points per game. The 5-foot-10 Slack was 67-for-153 from 3-point range and led the Great Lakes Valley Conference in free-throw percentage at .932.

In addition, Slack was named the GLVC Tournament’s most valuable player after leading NKU past Quincy in the championship game. Slack’s performance helped the Norse earn the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional, and she finished her career by scoring in double figures in 37 consecutive games dating back to her junior season.

A transfer from East Carolina, Slack also joined NKU’s 1,000-point club in just two seasons. The Sheridan High School graduate netted 1,006 points while playing at NKU and a total of 1,444 as a collegiate performer.

Slack led NKU with 58 steals this season and was named All-GLVC, All-Midwest Region and Daktronics All-American. She also dished out 95 assists and averaged 5.3 rebounds for an NKU team that was ranked No. 1 nationally much of the season.

As a junior, Slack helped NKU capture the NCAA Division II national championship.

Slack is the third NKU player in the past four years to earn All-America honors from the WBCA. A year ago, Angela Healy was named honorable mention All-American. In 2006, Karmen Graham earned honorable mention All-America recognition.

Katie Cezat of Hillsdale earned NCAA Division II National Player of the Year honors after averaging 29.3 ppg and 16.8 rebounds per contest.
