The Art & Design Program at Northern Kentucky University's School of the Arts offers a unique and challenging opportunity for aspiring artists and designers who seek professional training in art and design. All programs of study share a fundamental commitment to the premise that for the next generation of creative artists and educators to face the challenges of the 21st century they must be equipped with the creative and intellectual tools to succeed. To this end, the faculty and staff of the Art & Design Program embrace a comprehensive hands-on approach of working with materials and techniques while developing critical thinking skills related to the various art and design disciplines and studio training.
Our faculty is comprised of professional artists, designers and art historians who are committed to the teaching mission of NKU. They bring their creative and scholarly interests to the classroom and studio in ways that provide exciting and thought-provoking ideas that both inform and challenge.
Our award-winning alumni, co-op opportunities, and excellent facilities within the learning environment of a metropolitan, liberal-arts university, make NKU an exceptional choice for college. Home to world-class museums, galleries, and networking opportunities, NKU can help jump-start your career in the $760 billion arts economy.
We are pleased to announce two Art & Design Program scholarships for incoming freshman students. Students who are majoring in the Art & Design Program, and have officially applied at NKU may compete for scholarship support.
Art and Design offers a shadow experience for prospective students interested in studying in one of our many art and design degrees. Prospective students can attend class and have a free lunch on campus with a current student in their major. A shadow visit usually take a week to arrange and can take place Monday-Thursday. These experiences are set up on an individual basis according to each prospective student’s degree interests and career goals.
