Kwakiutl Relief Panel

This relief is carved from wood. It represents Galokwudzuwis, “Crooked Beak of Heaven.” The Crooked Beak of Heaven is one of the many man-eating mythical birds of the upper regions. It is used in dance, and when worn transforms the dancer. The dancer takes on the powers and characteristics of the Crooked Beak of Heaven.
