Our Bachelor of Arts in Law is an innovative program designed to meet a demand for professionals with legal training. At NKU, you’ll learn from highly-rated faculty from the Chase College of Law and the Department of Criminal Justice, Political Science and Organizational Leadership. Your education and the skills you learn will make you marketable in a variety of professions, all rooted in the invaluable foundation of law. This sought-after curriculum could jumpstart careers in finance, human resources, corporate ethics, health administration, immigration specialists, or even lobbyist, to name a few.

3+3 Accelerated Law Program

The BA in Law also provides the opportunity for an expedited path to law school. In this program, qualified law majors start at the Chase College of Law after their junior year and earn both a bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctor in one year less than normally required. This unique opportunity is the first of its kind and a step toward a successful career, regardless of the path you choose after graduation.

“My advice for people that want to participate in the 3+3 are two things. (1) Decide early on that you want to participate in the 3+3 and (2) Utilize your advisor as much as possible! They are there to help you with this process, take advantage of the assistance!”

Career plan: One day I would like to be a juvenile advocate. I was in foster care for a short period of time, but this displayed what my purpose is, which is to advocate for minority children!

  • Co-curricular Opportunities: We have many opportunities for you to engage with faculty and fellow students like the Model UN Club, the Mock Trial Team, or the Phi Alpha Delta international law fraternity.
  • Internships: There are numerous internship opportunities in the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati area including opportunities with the Hamilton County Juvenile Court, Ohio Innocence Project, Kentucky Legislative Research Commission, Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center, and local law firms and through our Future Leaders Internship Program (FLIP) (link to more).
  • Career Explorations: Our innovative, interdisciplinary courses, such as LAW 324: Environmental Law and LAW 480: Sports and the Law, provide a glimpse into different law careers. Or you might be interested in one of our study abroad programs to learn how organization and correctional outcomes in other countries differ from the United States.
