Multiculturalism is enhanced diversity where people of all backgrounds, identities and perspectives feel welcome, secure and included. Celebrating our differences allows us to make our campus community a better, more well-rounded; and worldly place. It gives our students an opportunity to share their experiences in a safe environment for others to join and learn from unique perspectives.
Multiculturalism pushes us to be inclusive while also encouraging us to hold on to our own personalities and helps connect students to the resources, organizations and student support services they need to thrive—as NKU students and future professionals.
The Diversity and Inclusion Closer Look celebration is an event typically hosted in the month of December geared to provide prospective high school students a hands-on, relevant, and program-based experiences during their visit to NKU. It allows students to explore the importance of diversity and inclusion and understand what it looks like on our campus. Students will receive information about programs and services hosted by the Center of Student Inclusiveness which includes our offices of African American Initiatives and Latino Programs and Services.
The Latino College Fair is an event that allows students from high school to learn about the benefits of pursuing a college education. They will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, learn about scholarship opportunities and resources available, go on a walking tour with NKU students, and participate in a college and resource fair. The event is FREE and open to ALL high school students.
This conference is geared towards prospective high school students from diverse backgrounds. This conference will give high school juniors the opportunity to come to NKU's campus and allow for participants to learn how to sharpen their leadership skills and how they impact the ways in which they choose to show up in the world each day.
