November 19, 2019— Kentucky’s Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs (GSE) is now accepting applications for the 2020 Summer Session, taking place at Northern Kentucky University from June 7 to June 27, 2020.

Through GSE, students learn firsthand about the opportunities, benefits and pitfalls of launching a business concept from the idea phase to pitching it to potential investors. Teams of students develop business models, design prototypes and pitch startup ideas to a large audience and panel of judges.

“We know that when entrepreneurs leave our program, they are ready to launch a business,” said Natasha Sams, GSE executive director. “We want to invest in the entrepreneurial journey of Kentucky teens. This upcoming summer will be the entrepreneurial experience of a lifetime, and we absolutely cannot wait.”

In November 2018, NKU and GSE partnered to develop year-round initiatives that focus on sparking the entrepreneurial passion of Kentucky’s youth. NKU also hosted GSE’s 2019 summer session and Demo Day. The success of the CIE, housed in the Haile/US Bank College of Business, helped to lay the groundwork for this partnership. NKU’s innovative, transdisciplinary academic experience complements GSE's entrepreneurial experience.

Applications are due by Jan. 20, 2020 and selections will be announced in April. Students who attend GSE can earn high school class credits, scholarships to Kentucky colleges and universities and receive access to the tools necessary to start their own businesses.

For more information and to apply, visit GSE’s website.
