Decmber 9, 2024 - Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball coach Darrin Horn reached a remarkable milestone this weekend, achieving his 100th win with NKU!

The Norse men’s basketball team defeated the IU Indianapolis Jaguars in a high energy 66-64 game on Saturday, Dec. 7. The victory marks Coach Horn’s 100th win with Northern Kentucky University. Trey Robinson also reached a milestone achievement against the Jaguars, becoming the tenth player in NKU’s Division I era to score 1,000 career points. Robinson follows Sam Vinson who reached 1,000 career points during last Tuesday’s game against the University of Akron Zips.

“Any milestone in coaching is really about players, staff and administrations. I'm thankful to have been blessed with the opportunity to coach such fine young men and players here at NKU,” says Coach Horn. “Our assistant coaches and support staff are relentless in their pursuit of helping our young men grow and develop to be their best on and off the court. I'm proud of winning, but take just as much pride in our 100% graduation rate. Thanks also to our fans, administration and entire NKU community whose support is crucial to the success of our program. We are excited about the challenges ahead and look forward to what this current team can achieve.”

Coach Horn joined NKU in 2019, and in his first five years as head coach he transformed the Norse into one of the top mid-major programs in college basketball with two Horizon League Championships and two NCAA appearances. Coach Horn is also the second coach in NKU’s history to rank first in winning percentage in the NKU Division I era. He previously served as assistant coach and associate head coach of the University of Texas men’s basketball team for four seasons, and was a head coach for Division I programs at Western Kentucky University and the University of South Carolina.

Coach Horn will look to continue his win streak with NKU against the University of the Cumberlands on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Truist Arena. Find tickets for upcoming men’s basketball games here.
