We spent our third day in Florida collecting on (or near) the beach.  This Gulf Coast location in the panhandle, near Panama City was a real treat.  We collected our first blow flies here (Hurray!).  While the flies were not thick, we did attract carrion flies to our rotting chicken bait traps.  It was quite windy on our day here and mostly cloudy, so we were on the hunt whenever the sun peaked out.  The beach contains many white sand dunes and has lush vegetation "islands" hidden within the dunes.  A really unique habitat.  One of the inland trails had a section that seemed to be teaming with baby toads, so you had to watch were you stepped.  There was a large sarcophagid that was seen several times amid the seaweed wrack along the beach, but it was so wary that we never were able to catch one.  This was our "big one" that got away today!
