African oil palms were introduced to Costa
Rica by Chiquita when the banana industry began to fail. African oil
palms produce oil dates that are used in many everyday items such as
soap, comsetics and candies. The African oil palms in Costa Rica only
grow for about 25 years until they get too tall for the workers to pick
the fruits, they are then cut down and new ones are planted.

These
"mysterical"
spheres
found
in
Costa Rica are believed to be dated from
around 200 BC and 1500 AD. Most rock in Costa Rica is volcanic rock but
these spheres are made from a granite type stone. These stones
were found in Costa Rica before the spanish conquest, once the spanish
saw these stones they thought that maybe the natives had hidden gold
inside. After breaking open about 11 stones they realized there was no
way to put gold inside these stones.
