Mask bought from Boruca Tribe |
The
Boruca
Tribe
has
about
2,000 members, most of whom live on the Reserva
Boruca or the neighboring indigenous reserve Rey Curre. They have lived
on these reservations since 1956, which were two of the first
indigenous reserves established. There is a 3 day event in late January
where the masks are used to represent the battle between the Boruca
Tribe and the Spaniards. This battle is when the Boruca Tribe regained
their independence from Spain. To learn more click here Boruca Tribe. |
