Mat115x: Group Project
Your group will:
- present a statement of the problem by April 2 (a typed, one-page abstract of what you will do).
- research your problem, producing a 10-page, double-spaced paper,
with references, and with an appendix including your graphs and a
brief explanation of how to understand the information they contain. (This will
be handed in as you do your presentation.)
- present your project to your classmates (this will be a 20 minute
presentation, with time for questions afterwards).
Members of the group should share the work fairly: you will be asked to
evaluate your partners' shares of the load (with evidence).
The grade will be based equally on the paper and the presentation, with the
following factors considered:
- Your statement of the problem (handed in on 4/2).
- Overview: did you give a nice comprehensive overview of the problem?
- Examination of some mathematical side issues.
- Tool use: did you use ArcView and Excel to advantage?
- References: did you use several, and cite them properly?
- Creativity - in display and analysis
- Factors of critical thinking, spelling, grammer, etc.
- My (and perhaps other professors') reviews of your presentations.
- Reviews from your classmates.
- "Group-mate" reviews, of how the work was distributed in each group.
You will present on either 4/18 or 4/23; the order of presentation will be
assigned randomly!
