Today we will discuss section 1.4 and problems #5, 7, 9, 14 in particular. These problems, and one additional problem of your own choosing, will form the first problem set to be handed in for grading; whatever progress we make today will be available to all in their solutions - so let's work hard today!
I'll have you pair up, choose a favorite, and work together to get a solution (or solutions!) for it. Then we'll share solutions.
You should write each one up on a separate page. Your job: to provide a clear explanation for your solution. Use the authors' words at the top of page 26 as your guide.
