I liked the way this student put things in his/her own words
One thing that you want to recall is that inferential statistics apply results from the sample to the population. We want to "infer" something about the population, using the information we obtain from the data. This student said that the claim is accurate "within a margin of error." Very good! We'll try to quantify that margin of error soon.
Many students said that the results from the sample "prove" that the claim of the owner is "true". Nonsense! All that the sample can do is give credence to the claim; the results from the sample do not allow us to reject the claim, but we cannot assert that the claim is true.
