Announcements
- Perhaps most important, there's a "major/minor lunch" today:
  - When: Friday February 8, 2008 11:30am -- 1:30pm
  - Where: ST 343 (the Calculus Lab)
  All mathematics majors and minors are welcome. This is a great opportunity to get together with other students and faculty on a very informal basis. Plus, the food is good -- especially if Dr. Buckley is baking goodies.
- Hand back homework 1.2.
  - Your 1.3 homework will be due Monday, due to the lost day.
  - I graded #17 and 35
    - #17 -- you guys are moving right along! You took me at my word, that you could skip dn and comm routinely!
    - #35 -- good use of the deduction method by many, but hypothetical syllogism is faster....
  - Scan of nice #50, and solution key's version.
  Note: some students haven't handed in a homework yet. That means they're already used two drops. The beginning of the semester is not the time to use your drops.
  The students who fail this class are the ones who don't do the homeworks. The homeworks are relatively easy: they're graded lightly, and they protect against bad test grades. Some students end up with 100% homework grades, which is a great innoculation against failure.
  Do your homework.
- I've pushed back our first exam because of the snow day: it's now scheduled for the 13th of February. Everybody okay with that? I may end up pushing back the other two, as well. The has been adjusted slightly because of the weather....
