Today I want to look at an
example, that spans the course, and then just take a peek at the
topics we've covered since the last exam. The example is from Lewis
Carroll:
- Babies are illogical
- Illogical persons are despised
- Nobody is despised who can manage a crocodile
What can we conclude? First of all, from the Once and Future King: all
that is not expressly forbidden is mandatory!
In particular, can babies manage crocodiles?
Solution:
- Propositional and Predicate logic
- A Truth Table (of logically consistent possibilities)
- Using Venn Diagrams
- Carroll's method (which is essentially the Karnaugh map)
- Simplification
- An expression tree and a logic network
