Today we have a visit from Nathan Dasenbrock-Gammon, who is
an undergraduate math student who worked on the Sage plotting routine,
and who won our class's "Best of Show" at the undergraduate summer
research poster session.
So we begin by honoring Nathan for that!
I've asked Nathan to not only share his research results, but to share
something of the research experience. Here are some questions that I
had for Nathan:
-
How did you get involved in this research?
-
What goal(s) did you set for yourself at the beginning of the research?
-
What does "doing research" entail? What did you actually do, how much time did you spend, how much background reading was necessary, etc.?
-
What were your results? Did you achieve your goal(s)?
-
What were the tangible benefits to your work, personally, for the Sage community, for Dr. Wilkinson, or for anyone else?
-
What did you learn by working one-on-one with Dr. Wilkinson?
-
What advice do you have for other students who might be interested in doing research?
But Nathan is free to talk about whatever he wants.
