• Announcements
  • Your first homework (for section 1.1) is due today. Please:
    1. Tear off all those little paper "chads";
    2. Fold your homework in half the long way, with the front inside;
    3. Place it on the table at the start of class when it's due.

  • No class on Monday -- it's labor day! Do some laborious math...

  • Homework for section 1.2 is due next Wednesday. Labor day causing trouble (again...)

  • Let me emphasize again: the most important thing is that you TRY the homeworks. On some of them you may not succeed -- but I'm looking for effort!

  • By the way, there's an event coming up at the end of the month -- the Sehnert lecture -- and you all are invited. But dinner starts at 6:00, and there's a reception at 5:30. So I'll be dismissing class a little early on Monday, 9/26.

    If you'd like to come, just add your name to the list in the math office, (MEP 401, upstairs). More details to follow....

  • Any questions over 1.2?
  • Note: Contraposition is actually proved as exercises #24 and 25.
  • Questions on the homework for 1.2? For #50, we might want to use consistent statement letters:
    • I - Innocent client
    • K - Knife in drawer
    • J - Jason saw knife
    • O - Oct. 10 the knife was there
    • H - Hammer in the barn
    Then we should all have the same theorem.
