It is hard to tell from the table how the two variables are related. Minnesota has a 78.9% graduation rate with an expenditure of $7,051 per pupil, while North Dakota has a 79.5% graduation rate with only $5,830 per pupil. Then there is Alaska with only a 64.2% graduation rate with an expenditure of $8,743 per pupil. To find information hidden in the numbers, we need some way to organize the data so we can see meaning without getting lost in a horde of numbers. Then maybe we can decide whether or not the graduation rate is related to educational spending.
