Voting Exit Poll
Time of Day:
Started at 3:00pm and ended at 3:30pm.
Voters: I
got 30 voters, including my grandma, grandpa and dad that voted. Also, 5 people
refused to give me their vote. And I talked to the sheriff of the fire house
and a helper of the voting station.

When I first pulled up to the fire
house, I didn’t know if I was going to be able to do this project, because I
don’t like talking to people I don’t know, especially if it’s about a touching
subject. Well, I knew I had no choice so I got out of the car and stood by the
door waiting for my first voter to come out. After about 3 times of me saying,
“Hi, my name is Priscilla Brownfield and I am a NKU student and I am taking an
exit poll for a class on the Kentucky Senate Election, may I ask who you voted
for?” And then handing them 2 pieces of paper, a lady came out the building and
asked what I was doing, I had never thought about it but I probably should have
told them what I was doing and why before I started. But in the end, she told
me that she was the sheriff of the fire department and that it was a great idea
to take an exit poll, and she was really interested in how we as a class are
going to look at the results and talk about it.
I met some really nice people that
didn’t mind telling me who they voted for and why and wished me luck in my exit
polling. On top of meeting nice people I also met some really hateful ones too.
I only had 5 people refuse and they would cut me off before I even finished my
introduction, and some would just keep walking. I’m going to lie, but I didn’t
ask like 3 people for their vote, because they looked so mean. Half way through
my polling, a helper from inside came out and very rudely said” what are you
doing here,” while I was in the middle of talking to another person. I calmly
said that I was a NKU student taking an exit poll and that I already had talked
to the sheriff. I don’t think she liked that, because she just turned around
and went back inside.
I was glad that I was not too cold
out that day and there were a lot of people at the fire house so I didn’t have
to stand out there long. I believe that most of the people just gave me a vote
because I am an NKU student and just wanted to help me out, but I still have
fun in the long fun and it turned out to be okay.
When I got home I asked my
grandparents who they voted for, because they voted early In the day and both
of them and my dad voted for Rand Paul, which I thought was funny, because they
are not related but still have strong beliefs and issues on who they voted for.
