Rand Paul vs. Jack Conway

I went to the precinct I vote at on Saratoga Street, in Newport Ky. I got there around 5 and stayed till about 5:30. I thought this would be a busier time since it was around when most people get off work. I was excited to get started, but it took a bit before I saw anyone. I spoke to a man name Larry who voted for Rand Paul. He said that Conway didn’t get out and mingle with the regular people enough and because of this he would probably lose. He tells me to watch my back out there because people get hostile when it comes to politics. I saw another guy named Jake, I know Jake because I cut his hair. He said he didn’t know I was so into politics because I always halt his advances for such conversation at work. I explain that we aren’t supposed to talk politics at work because it gets people going. He laughs and says I am probably right and that he also voted for Rand Paul. After a few people say no I came across Leslie, a single mom who lives around the corner. She said she was shocked that it wasn’t busier, but that not a lot of people realize how important this vote can be. Leslie smokes a cigarette with me and I think I convince her to take classes at NKU. She wants to be a nurse and said she is worried about the effects of Universal Health Care. She actually voted for Jack Conway.

All in all I had a positive experience at the polls. I met a lot of interesting people. Aside from the occasional drive by honking and cat calls it was fun and interesting to talk to people about politics and actually get conversation and not yelling.

RESULTS:
