Voting HW

For this voting experiment, I went to the Harrison High School Activity Center and had a very good experience.  I quickly learned that I didn’t go at the best time, but because of my work schedule that day I couldn’t go at any other time.  On Tuesday I went from 3:30 to 4:00 and only got 8 votes.  The people were very friendly; I knew most of them since this was in my hometown.  I did come across 7 people that did not want to share their vote, but they were also very nice and not rude at all.  It was really cold!  From my picture you can tell I was freezing standing outside there.  I actually started on the other side of the building to begin with and then moved to where the wind couldn’t get to me.  I was nervous going into the day, but overall am glad we went through with it and had this assignment.  I came across one elderly woman, probably in her mid seventies, she was skeptical of talking to me at first, she tried to walk away and said no thank you but once I got her attention long enough to explain to her what I was doing and that this was anonymous she stood with me and talked for at least ten minutes.  She told me where they used to vote and how the precincts have changed and the voting scheme has changed over the years.  I also ran into one of my old high school teachers, who is now retired.  He also wanted to stand and talk since I haven’t seen him since graduation, since there weren’t many people coming out he was my entertainment for the day.  From the votes that I did get, it’s safe to say what kind of town Harrison is.  Like I said earlier, I enjoyed the experiment, with that being said after my experience I would suggest for the student to go somewhere that is not their precinct to conduct the experiment.  I didn’t have many people at the time of day that I went but since I knew everyone coming out it was very distracting and somewhat of an issue to stop talking to them and ask the person coming out to partake in the experiment.

3.  Results from my precinct were…

John Kasich – 7

Ted Strickland – 1

I also got 7 “no thank yous”

I was at my precinct from 3:30 to 4:00.

The picture was clear on the camera…sorry.
