  1. What does the increasing/decreasing test do for us?

  2. Use the two simplest quadratic (``parabolic'') functions, tex2html_wrap_inline107 and tex2html_wrap_inline109 , to demonstrate the first and second derivative tests.

  3. How would you describe concavity?

  4. What bearing does the second derivative have on concavity?

  5. Notice the ``charts'' used to encapsulate the derivative information, and show its bearing on the shape of the graph (e.g. p. 241, p. 246). What information is conveyed in these charts? Is there other useful information which one might include?
