Assigned problems: Exercises pp. 476-478, #1, 3, 6, 26, 28, 48, 51, 63, 73 (due Friday, 4/25).

1. Because the standard trig functions are not one-to-one, the inverse functions are only defined on intervals of the domain. What are these intervals for the three main trig functions (sine, cosine, tangent)?

2. Look at the graphs of the functions and in Figures 4 and 7. Can you write one of these functions in terms of the other, using only reflections, shifts, etc.?

3. Just as you should be able to quickly sketch the graphs of the basic trig functions, I expect you to be able to quickly sketch their inverses. Can you? Do so!

Notes:

1. Observe the warning about the cancellation equations, p. 470.

2. If you know the three main inverse trig functions, I'll be happy. The rest are not so commonly used.
