Suggested Student Activity Schedule

Before class:
-
- Read the text section(s) to be discussed.
- Prepare questions about unclear passages.
- Try some of the homework exercises.
- Work with classmate(s) on homework.

During class:
-
- Take notes -- at least what is put on the board, but your comments;
- Ask questions if something is not clear.
- Get involved. Be an active learner!

After class:
-
- Review notes: rewrite or fill in gaps. Formulate questions for the next class.
- Reconstruct class discussion of problems. Clarify for yourself.
- Complete problems that were only partially worked in class.
- Work on homework exercises, some each day.
- Write out descriptions of formulas in your own words.
- Complete your daily homework in short (e.g. one-hour) sessions. Visit the calculus lab while doing this, if possible.
- Discuss homework problems with classmates outside of class.
- Visit me in my office to get additional help.
