- Announcements:
- Reminder: stash your rectangles.
- Your quiz is returned (you'll have another on Wednesday):
- Three things we use to characterize $the sampling distribution of a sample proportion$:
- shape
- mean
- std dev
- Define
- Sample $proportion$. We just finished talking
about the distribution of a sample proportion, so what
is it? $\hat{p}$ is a number from 0 to 1, the fraction
of the sample having a given property.
- Two kinds of variables
- categorical: vary by groups, which
generally are unordered.
- quantitative: say more than "given by a
number." They vary continuously.
- Your current assignment is due tomorrow at 5:00 pm.
- Today:
- Science: we don't do truth, and we don't do proof: we test
conjectures, hypotheses, theories.
- Questions about material from Packets 1-3?
- Packet 4: Hypothesis Test for Proportions
