The Future of the Function Box
My primary interest at this point is to
use
the box, in courses such as
Multivariate Calculus, and
Linear Algebra
It would be especially useful for
blind students, and
those who are challenged by viewing surfaces projected onto a screen.
I'd also like to
find others
who are interested and able to help me to move the project forward.
We now have a working prototype, although it does have its problems:
It doesn't move all pins simultaneously (which would allow dynamic display, such as waves).
It's too slow.
It's too large.
For goodness sakes, it's a prototype! This isn't the finished product. A really great function box should be
Smaller (but large enough to fondle),
Fast, and
Driven by a TI-calculator (for example).
We'll see!
