The Future of the Function Box
My primary interest at this point is to
use
the box:
in courses such as
Multivariate Calculus, and
Linear Algebra
It would be especially useful for blind students, and those who are challenged by viewing surfaces projected onto a screen.
I'd also like to
find others
who are interested and able to help me to move the project forward.
We now have a working prototype, although it does have its problems:
It doesn't move all pins simultaneously (which would allow dynamic display, such as waves).
It's too slow.
It's too large.
For goodness sakes, it's a prototype! This isn't the finished product. A really great function box should be
Smaller (but large enough to fondle),
Fast, and
Driven by a TI-calculator (for example).
We'll see! Ken has some ideas....
