I thought that I'd add a place for "testimonials" from folks who email me about Stuart -- Andy
Many years ago in the late 50s I attended Bowling Green and had the privilege of having Dr. Givens in class. He was an outstanding teacher! I did not do well while I was there but did do well in his history class. He actually gave us a test over the materials we discussed and read about. That was not always the case unfortunately in my other classes. But I went on after I left BG, returned to college and graduated and became a teacher in high school. I never forgot Stuart Givens: he actually cared for and helped you succeed, which is what teachers are supposed to do. I often thought of him, and patterned myself after the many things he did in the classroom. I just googled his name to find out something about him. I was sorry to see that he passed away. I often thought that I should try to find him and thank him personally for that brief period in my life away from home in a school far away. If he has family anywhere, please let them know that an unknown anonymous student he would not remember ---- remembers him and how he influenced my teaching and life. If only we had more teachers like him. My regards to his family and thanks for everything Stuart Givens.
