Michael Alan Stanton, 64, loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend went to be with the Lord, his Savior, on Friday, May 6th, 2016. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 20, 1952 to Albert and Dorothy Stanton.
Upon graduation from Bowsher High School, Mike received an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. He then attended LeTorneau University, where he met Billy Graham's son, Franklin and loved to share funny stories about his adventures. He finished his degree in business at The University of Toledo.
He loved, church, music, jets and fishing. He was a very young entrepreneur, interested in finding creative business ventures. He took great pride in caring for others and meeting needs at all costs. In his journey through life he wore many hats; accountant, landscape artist, event hall owner, real estate agent and owner. Mike was also a frequent babysitter of the beloved family doggies.
Mike has always been a man of deep faith and family has been his treasure. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perrysburg. His old guitar has been a real friend to share his faith through song and keep him company during times of loneliness and struggles with illness. Despite all of life's challenges, physically and emotionally, Mike was a fighter to the very end. He will be dearly missed.
Michael is survived by his children, Emily (David) Hayes, Ben Stanton and Kate Stanton; grandchildren, Noelle, Matthew and Isabelle; parents, Albert and Dorothy Stanton; siblings, Gayle Gardner, Lyn (Gene) Buckland, Sally Krist, and Julie (Ed) Andra; nieces and nephews, Tony and Alison Kibler, Bob and Julie Krist, Michelle Fairchild and Tiffany Cooke. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clinton and Glada Stanton, Albert and Shirley Schudel; uncle, Bob Stanton and aunt, Janet Hahnlen.
Friends will be received at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419-792-3786) on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 10 from 10:00 AM -- 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 200 W. 2nd St., Perrysburg with funeral services to follow at 11:00 with Pastor Eric McGlade officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Michael's name may be made to First United Methodist Church and Perrysburg Christians United.
