Digitizing from an image

You could add an image to a view (perhaps as precursor to digitizing). If you'd like to try this then first load the JPEG Image Support extension (activate the Project window, then, under File, click extensions). Now do the following:
  1. Click the Add Theme button, and select as Data Source Type the Image Data Source.
  2. If you've added the JPEG extension, then you have the choice of loading in either jpg or tif files.
  3. Once it's loaded in, make that theme the only one active and click on the "Full Extent" button under the View menu.
If you want to go the next step and actually digitize with a mouse, then you can do the following:
  1. Click the New Theme button, and choose the type of data set you want to create - point, line, or polygon.
  2. You'll see that a new button has been added next to the large "T" button (for text). It's for your drawing needs. Have fun!
