Nonlinear Compartmental Systems

If any of the transfer coefficients are functions of one or more compartment sizes, we have a nonlinear compartmental system. These are much more difficult to solve than linear compartmental systems. We have a relatively complete theory that tells us the qualitative nature of the solutions but we cannot write the exact functional forms as we can for linear compartmental systems. Thus each case has to be examined in terms of its own particularities.
