Dr. Daniel A. Griffith

Professor Griffith received his doctorate (1978) in geography from the University of Toronto and a M.Sc. in statistics from the Pennsylvania State University. He has been at Syracuse University since 1988 and was previously a faculty member in the Geography Departments at Ryerson Polytechnical University, and then the University at Buffalo. He is the past chair of his department and earlier was the Director of the Applied Statistics Program at Syracuse.

He is a past president of the North American Regional Science Council, and has delivered spatial statistics lectures at major universities including Cornell University, the Universities of Cambridge, and the NSF National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis. He has (co-) authored/edited numerous articles and books. His spatial statistics research findings appear in Communications in Statistics, Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, Geographical Analysis, Journal of Regional Science, Papers in Regional Science, Environment & Planning A, and Regional Science & Urban Economics.
