Mission Summer Camp
- Jim Dubay (229-924-4328) is the Koinonia director
- Pam Rieke will be our "director"; Lois, Dolores, and many of our young
girls have also expressed an interest in helping out. Sounds like we
have a good camp crew!
- Pam will encourage all those of the right ages
- The outline of the camp is as follows:
- Our week will be the second week of the summer camp (with more to
follow)
- The camp runs from 9:00am through noon:
- There is generally an art project every day.
- There is generally an outside activity every day.
- Lunch is provided, and starts at 11:30.
- There will be four teenage (paid) helpers from the area. We will
need to fit them into our week's program. They are reputedly
veterans from last year's camp, so they should be helpful!
- Last year there were 34 kids; they'll try to keep it to 30 this
year.
- Kids are first grade through junior high (14/15 year old), so
we'll need a range of activities.
- Generally there is a theme for the week. Themes Jim is already
considering include Praise Dancing, and Camping.
- Jim is willing to let us take it ourselves, or to have us
facilitate. I think that we should decide the curriculum
ourselves, and let him help out where needed.
- Pam has suggested a theme that will help the kids from Georgia
learn about Kentucky and the Tristate area.
- I'm imagining that there will be plenty of work to do in the
afternoon, to get ready for the marrow's camp, so this will
likely be a full-time job during our week at Koinonia. On the
other hand, some people may want to do this in the morning, and
help out in other ways during the afternoons.
