Last Minute Message

Hi folks,

I hope that you're feeling excited about our upcoming trip to Koinonia!

First of all, please reply to this email so that I know that you got it: otherwise, I'll be calling your home today, to make sure that you've been contacted.

Just a couple of things that I want to remind you of:

  1. Let's plan on meeting at the church at 6:30 on Sunday. I'd mentioned a time a little later than that in an earlier email, but Terry mentioned 6:30 in his recent email, and I think that we stand a better chance of getting off at 7:00 if we shoot for the earlier meeting time.
  2. Let's plan on eating lunch in Knoxville, TN. If you'd like to pack a lunch, that's fine: but I expect that there are those who would prefer fast food, so we'll look for a likely exit there. You might bring some "road snacks" in any even, and a good book; we'll be on the road a long time!
  3. We'll probably need another break in the late afternoon, perhaps for an ice cream cone. Then, with any luck, we can eat dinner in Americus, GA. Mapquest gives a driving time much shorter than does Google: about 10 hours. So with lunch, an afternoon break, and any luck,we'll be getting in by 7:00 p.m., say.
  4. Drivers: please gas up before Sunday morning (and that includes your coffee!;).
  5. I'm working on vehicle assignments with Terry. When you arrive on Sunday morning, you'll receive your assignment. Terry has also assigned our living arrangements, once we arrive in Koinonia: this will make our transition there smoother, we hope. Expect a little chaos on Sunday night, as projects may change: Koinonia has not handled a group like us before, and we'll all have some learning to do to!
  6. Project leaders: expect to meet with folks from Koinonia on Sunday night, to make sure that we've hammered down the plan for Monday morning.
  7. Some things to remember (other than your toothbrush!):
    1. pillow
    2. towel
    3. flashlight
    4. swimsuit (as a possibility)
    5. sunscreen
    6. mosquito repellent
    7. drink bottle (and fill it up before we leave!)
    8. some spending loot
    9. For those of you planning to work on Heart to Heart, bring your hammer and tape measure and such (a little basic tool kit is ideal), and make sure that your tools are marked (e.g. with masking tape and a name) to be sure to recover them at the end!
    10. Don't "overpack": try to keep your luggage footprint small, since there will be lots of us, and we'll also have tools, coolers and food, etc.
  8. Lastly, don't forget your health form (if you've not already handed it in), which you can print off from
    http://www.nku.edu/~longa/presby/mission/06-04-23.html
if you've lost track of yours. Worst case, bring your insurance card, and a parent if under 18....

See you Sunday morning! Please call me with any questions or thoughts (781-3916), or mention them when you email back.

Andy
