The following are, for the most part, little example analysis files to illustrate some of the ideas I've been thinking about lately (in the last fifteen years, say!;).
Hastings, Jon M., Charles W. Holliday, Andrew Long, Katie Jones and Grayson Rodriguez. Size-Specific Provisioning by Cicada Killers, Sphecius speciosus, (Hymenoptera: Crabronidae) in North Florida. . Florida Entomologist 93(3):412-421. 2010. doi: 10.1653/024.093.0315 (a local copy)
I'm interested in the use of human waste as a fertilizer, rather than as a pollutant. We're causing giant dead zones in the Gulf of Mexico because of our dumping of incredible amounts of nitrogen-based fertilizers from human waste and agricultural run-off) into the Mississippi. Algal blooms suck oxygen up from the water, and kill the fish (and other creatures) relying on breathing.
I took the idea for this analysis (which I used in a calculus class to illustrate Riemann sums, and approximation of integrals) from this article.
