Image maps permit users to follow links to other documents by clicking on different areas of a single image. That is, a single large image has several clickable regions, usually associated with various pictures or text within the image. The following picture is an image map. The image was captured from the home page of Corel Corporation and then made clickable for the current web. If you move the cursor around the image you will see portions with links attached to them: the Corel banner, the balloon, the planet, and the "High" and "Low" starbursts. For present purposes, the clickable regions are not linked to other pages.
