Hints and Corrections:

  1. In step 1  on page AC 132, copy the Hours3.mdb database located on my web page to a floppy disk by clicking on the following link. Home Work 3 Data Files Access 2000 users click on the following link instead. Home Work 3 Data Files Click the Open button on the first dialog box that appears to start the download, click the Unzip button on the second dialog box, click the OK button on the third dialog box to verify the successful unzip, click the Close button on the second dialog box after unzipping the file to your floppy disk.
  2. In step 2  on page AC 132, the sentence (Make sure that the option for specifying that the first row contains field names is selected) should read (Make sure that the option for specifying that the First Row Contains Column Headings is selected). For the last part of step 2 append your name to the end of the table name listed in book when saving the table. (example: make tblEmployeesImport become tblEmployeesImportJohnDoe substitute your name for John Doe)  Switch to design view and print the tblEmployeesImport table using the following steps.  Press Alt-Print Screen keys to copy the screen display to the clipboard. Open Word, click Edit menu, then Paste to get screen capture image into Word document. Type your first and last name, class and section number, and date at the top of the page using Word's header feature. Steps: Click the View menu, click Header and Footer drop-down menu, type your first and last name, press the Tab key on the keyboard, type class number (IFS 110) and section number or time class meets, press the Tab key on the keyboard, enter current date by pressing the Alt + Shift + D key combination on the keyboard. Click the Close button the the Header and Footer floating toolbar. Click Print Preview button, then click Print Button to print the page. Do not save the Word document when prompted to do so. This is page 1 of your outputs. Close the tblEmployeesImport table
  3. In step 5  on page AC 132, save the query as (Test Employees Append John Doe, substitute your name for John Doe)
  4. In step 7  on page AC 132, best fit all the columns, change the print orientation to landscape and print the query. To Print the query with the Print Preview showing on the screen, right-click the Screen and click Print on the shortcut menu. This is page 2 of your assignment.
  5. In step 9  on page AC 132, click Yes to append 6 rows to the tblEmployees table.
  6. In step 12  on page AC 132, click Yes to append 52 rows to the tblHours table.
  7. In step 14  on page AC 132, print tblHoursArchive in design view after making data type change to the HoursID field by using step 2 above. This is page 3 of your outputs.
  8. After completing step 15  on page AC 133, open tblHoursArchive  in datasheet view to view the appended records, print tblHoursArchive after setting each column to best-fit. To Print the table click File, then click Print. This is page 4 of your outputs. Close the table and save your changes.
  9. After completing step 16  on page AC 133, open tblHours  in datasheet view to view the remaining records, print tblHours after setting each column to best-fit. To Print the table click File, then click Print. This is page 5 of your outputs. Close the table and save your changes.
  10. In step 18 on page AC 133, For the last part of step 18 append your name to the end of the query name listed in book when saving the query. (example: make qryUnionHours become qryUnionHoursJohnDoe substitute your name for John Doe
  11. After completing step 18  on page AC 133, open qryUnionHours  in datasheet view to view the combined records, print qryUnionHours  after setting each column to best-fit. To Print the query with the Print Preview showing on the screen, right-click the Screen and click Print on the shortcut menu. This is pages 6+7 of your outputs. Close the table and save your changes.
  12. In step 19 on page AC 133, For the last part of step 19 append your name to the end of the query name listed in book when saving the query. (example: make qryUnionHoursSort become qryUnionHoursSortJohnDoe substitute your name for John Doe
  13. After completing step 19  on page AC 133, open qryUnionHoursSort  in datasheet view to view the combined sorted records, print qryUnionHoursSort. To Print the query with the Print Preview showing on the screen, right-click the Screen and click Print on the shortcut menu. This is pages 8+9 of your outputs. Close the table and save your changes.
  14. In step 20 on page AC 133, For the last part of step 20 append your name to the end of the query name listed in book when saving the query. (example: make qryEmployeeCountByCityState become qryEmployeeCountByCityStateJohnDoe substitute your name for John Doe
  15. After completing step 20  on page AC 133, open qryEmployeeCountByCityState in datasheet view to view the 3 records with totals, print qryEmployeeCountByCityState. To Print the query with the Print Preview showing on the screen, right-click the Screen and click Print on the shortcut menu. This is page 10 of your outputs. Close the table and save your changes.
  16. Turn in these 10 pages together with your disk containing the revised Hours3.mdb file in the assignment folder with your name.
