Extra Credit Opportunities

You may, if you wish earn up to 20 points of extra credit during the term. If done well, the following options are worth 10 points each:

Occasionally, I will give you opportunities to earn extra credit in class. Be alert for such offers.
Go to the Cincinnati Art Museum and look at the art for a particular period and culture we are studying. For example, you could visit the exhibits on medieval or renaissance French or Italian art to gain insight into the texts we are reading from later periods. The museum also has a number of 18th century portraits and landscape paintings, and the museum owns a painting by Hogarth entitled "Southwerk Fair" that shows 18th century country entertainments. Write a one page, single-spaced report of what you observed in viewing various pieces of art from one place and time.
Memorize and recite a poem, a speech, or a soliloquy of at least 14 lines from one of the works we studied.
Attend the performance of a play from one of the periods we are studying. Refer to http://www.robbucher.com/cincytheatre/ or http://www.robbucher.com/cincytheatre/csf.htm for local opportunities.
Watch a reasonably accurate attempt in film to depict one of the periods we have studied, or the staging of a piece of literature from the period, then write a 1 page, single-spaced review of the film. Some options include the following:
