Projects My main project - for the past two+ years - has been what we've been calling Forgetting: The Alzheimer's Project. A narrative/documentary produced with and for the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Cincinnati the goal of this digital cinema project is to educate and prepare families of Alzheimer's patients for the unfortunate and inevitable future events that their loved one will experience. The 48 Hour Film Project is an international digital cinema experience that has been held locally since 2003. I helped bring the 48HFP to the area and unofficially co-produced the event the first two years while fielding a team. Since 2005 I have served as the producer for the 48HFP in Cincinnati USA, growing the event to 48 teams last year. This year's event took place July 20-22 with group screenings at an all-day festival on July 28 at the Carnegie Visual + Performing Arts Center in Covington and the Best Of at the Showcase 18 Cinema De Lux in Springdale. I've also helped to create the College Weekend Movie Festival. This annual event pits the best student filmmakers from NKU, Brown Mackie, Cincinnati State, UC, Xavier and the Ohio Center for Broadcasting against each other in an attempt to create the best movie in a long weekend. 2008 will be our third year for the CWMF and NKU will be defending our win for best movie, along with an audience choice and two audience choice runners-up. I'm helping to design the Center for Informatics on campus. Our new state-of-the-art home will be built with the $35.5 million that the state has given us plus what we can raise from other outside sources. When we have details about the building I'll share them here - and as we finalize deals with some of these companies (and some of the possibilities out there are MIND BOGGLING) I'll spread that word. For now I'll just say that there is going to be some big, big news over the next year about the EMB program and the College of Informatics. There are more things on my plate - I'm not certain where to start. So I'll just say to stay tuned to the site and my blog for details. |
