If you enjoy working with children (birth through five years) with and without special needs, the Early Childhood Education program is for you! You will learn how to develop fun, hands-on activities and collaborate with adults (families and other professionals) to help young children develop and learn.

Be a lead Preschool or Kindergarten classroom teacher in public schools
Be an early interventionist working with children under age 3 with disabilities in First Steps (Kentucky’s early intervention system) or Help Me Grow (Ohio)
Be a District Child Evaluations Specialist helping to determine eligibility for the Kentucky’s early intervention system

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

You will have opportunities to further develop your teaching proficiency as you spend time in a variety of early childhood settings through your coursework and field work.

You will have opportunities to learn about evidence based curriculum and teaching strategies; interview early childhood teachers, administrators, and other related professionals; observe children ages birth – 5 years, and conduct projects with young children and their families.
